Skill in Craftsmanship

A community of masters

“When you see this level of skill, you begin to appreciate it’s value. And respect it. In an increasingly mechanised world, the touch of the hand and this quality of craftsmanship gives my jewellery a greater intrinsic worth”

I work with some of the most talented specialist craftsmen. Masters of their trades at the very top of their game. They’re superbly skilled at the process they have trained for and developed over many years. Collectively they have nearly 200 years experience!. Take a look at some of them in action.

Justin

Diamond Mounter

Justin is a highly skilled diamond mounter. He’s been working in the industry for 42 years so experience and skill are second-to-none! He completed his 5 year apprenticeship with Graff in 1979 and started working for himself in Hatton Garden in 1988. In 2013 he was awarded his Freedom of the Goldsmiths’ Company. We’ve worked closely with Justin for almost 10 years, building a valuable and trusted mutual respect. In 2008 when this relationship was just beginning to blossom, we asked him to feature in our short film called For the love of it - take a look here

Reggie

Polishing and Plating

Reg has been working in the industry for 43 years. He completed his 5 year apprenticeship in 1978 with Wakely and Wheeler. In 1986 he set up his own business and has gone from strength to strength. He’s one of the very few skilled silversmithing polishers left in the trade and his work is outstanding and of the very highest quality! He was Awarded his Freedom of the Goldsmiths' company in 1980. In 2016 he was awarded his Royal Warrant for work undertaken for the Queen!

Harsha

Harsha was born in Sri Lanka and trained in his family business for 19 years. He undertook a Diploma at the Sri Lanka College of Technology - Colombo. In 2012 he moved to the UK when we started working with him. His work is incredible. His precision and expertise is breathtakingly beautiful. It’s a real privilege to have work set by him.

Marcel

Marcel was born in Beirut where he trained between 1998 and 2000. He worked for a company until he moved to the UK in 2005. After 6 months of employment he took the plunge, setting up his now extremely successful company. Compared to other relationships this is a relatively new one as we’ve only worked with him for the past 2 years, but his work and service is exceptional and it is a pleasure working with him!

James

Engraving

We’ve been working with James for over 10 years. He has built a reputation for being one of the top engravers in the UK and his work is superb. He graduated from Camberwell School of Art in 1999. He then trained and worked at R.H.Wilkins engravers for 10 years during which time he became a Freeman of the Goldsmiths’ Company. He joined forces with fellow Master Engraver - Sam Marsden in 2011 to form their own company and together they are a tour de force!

Tony

Laser cutting and laser welding

Tony has been working in Hatton Garden since 1976. His pioneering approach led him to be the first jewellery workshop in Hatton Garden to use laser welding. He’s embraced this technology further and now offers a laser cutting service. We’ve known Tony for over 10 years and have enjoyed seeing him build his reputation for quality and service. In 2008 we asked him to feature in our short film called For the love of it - take a look here
